Didn't have anything much  planned but last evening got a call from one brother , so instead of me going to see him, He's coming here !!! Whoopie!!

But I still gotta take a shower and  find clean clothes anyway I guess huh?
Last time we did this I ended up talking waay past lunch and didn't eat . I AM NOT letting that happen again!! ( Wonder if Subway delivers? )

More Coffee and keep moving... shower, straighten up table and kitchen, pick up scattered cat toys from the floor, etc etc,..

Later that morning...  10ish.

So, I was thinking while I was in the shower getting all the crude and junk off my body and outta my hair.   Wonder what the early pioneers to this country did about body cleaning. Thinking along the lines of the settlements in the NE which was settled first. Did they bring their ole standard with them? The one from England where they only did a full body wash once a year in the spring. I’ve read that the women used grease for make up and in their hair for beauty. Good Gawd!! They must have smelled real good in the heat of summer.
How bout the guys?  They’re out working with animals, hunting, fishing , maybe doing garden work. How did they keep clean?   And won’t the body odor be a determent while hunting?  Dang , a skunk in your pocket won’t mask all the smell.

I do remember on the farm that every Saturday night was a big shower up night for Church the next morning.  Course on Sunday morning after breakfast we had to polish our shoes which just got polish on your hands and you had to wash them again.

I hunted with one ole boy who swore that he didn’t shower for a week before the hunt and I believed him. We insisted that he sit down wind at the camp fire.

That’s just what popped up while I was showering up this morning.

4PMish, just back from UPS shipping off package to DD, ( darling daughter)

OK,  fair warning!! Cooking pizza tonight, ready to slice about 6pm, of course you better get here on time. cause it's waay better fresh out of the oven.

Final warning.. 5:30 and got the stuff ready to go on top of the tombstone pizza to make it really eatabe.   First the pizza straight out of the package.

And this is all the extra stuff I'm gonna add to it.
colored bell peppers, pepperoni, onion, green and black olives, garlic powder, cooked Italian sausage.
If I don't get in a hurry when it's done I'll try to remember to get a cooked picture.:-)

Turned out good, At least the half I ate anyway.  :-)   You can almost see some of the shredded shark cheddar cheese I sprinkled on top.

NAP time with a boring movie I betcha.

  1. Well as far as baths, just think a minute about the stinky cowboys. The only water they were likely to find was also found by all the cows. Cowboys and/or cowgirls had no way to drill deep wells, so if they wanted to bathe they had to use cow water. You know what I am talking about, the water where the cows stand out in it and suck it in on end and expell it on the other end. I am pretty sure I would prefer to remain stinky until I could find some clean water.

  2. I thought I commented earlier, but don't see it. Back in the days without indoor plumbing mad things a little harder, like bathing.

You know, it is hard for old guys like me to remember if we posted or not when we can't see them right away. Just saying.
