Febuary 6th, 2012 Long Live the Queen!!

NO !! Not Elton John!!!  The Real Queen of England, Elizabeth. On this day in 1952 she became Queen of England..
Just a tidbit I stumbled upon this morning.

Speaking of History , Don't know how it slipped by me/us. But Buddy Holly died February 3rd, 1959.  Of course all us "of a certain age" remember the Day The Music Died"
As I told you before, that was the only day I ever cut school. Went with two girl friends to Dallas and listened all day to the AM radio playing tributes to Buddy.  Just drove around .. and never got in trouble about it.

Enough History, Today!!!

You know I love my two kittys and Hermit Jim this morning found a funny site about cats.  Direct Link stolen from Hermit Jim's post this morning is Sleeping Cats.

Let's see, what I got to do this morning?  ( where's my list Basset? )   Two items from the  WallyWorld super store near here.  Smoke detectors!!!  One of them is failing , and a new battery didn't fix the Beeping  ever so often. So replace them both!!! The other small item is the memory card reader

A though just crossed my mind.  WE, all the old farts of the World, have burned in our memory the  events that changed the World we live it.  AS did our parents.  When we were in school we were actually taught History. American, World and Texas ( state) .  With the decline in the education system to day. What are the kids (our grand kids)  being taught?
My generation knew that Japan tried to take us over , starting with the Bombing of Pearle Harbor, We remember Nikita Khrushchev beating his shoe on the table , yelling " We will bury you!. We remember first the over throw of Cuba and then the missile crises with Castro in control . Our fathers went to fight in Korea. and our generation went to stop Communism in Vietnam. and on and on. Is any of that history being taught today?

Need more coffee and open the blinds.  BBL

Shoot !!  Glanced at my weather station , and it not showing the outside conditions! It has a solar powered battery recharger in it , but ain't reading yet. It will once the sun hits it. Guess I need to take down the 40' pole and replace those batteries huh?

10AM + Fixin to head out since I got all my morning routine done.  So gonna head on out and get my "todo" list done.   Got a question that popped up while heating up my breakfast. When you punch in 60 on the microwave touch pad. How does the unit know it's 60 seconds and not 60 minutes?

Noon plus one nearly . Took BOT by to drop it off for some fixit things I want done. Left it running outside the garage and when we came out , there was a puddle of diesel fuel under it.  So, add fix fuel leak to the list.
No rush on it cause it just sits most of the time.

Got my new card reader at Wally World   and the two new Smoke detectors.. Going to hang them right now while I'm still moving. :-)

    1. Well,Jim, the pole is not heavy just tall and can't lay it flat on the ground cause the all the devices on top. Just take my time and hope like hell I don't drop it.

Go on with your Holly post.

  5. On the microwave it is in second(s) increments so when punches in .60 seconds that is .60 seconds if you punch in 60.00 it will be 60 minutes and by the time you figure it out it would be going down from the 60 minutes, some fanch schmancy microwaves talk to a person, I don't have that kind but it does stop when punched in at 60 minutes to ask you on the screen if you want to continue? smart Microwave isn't it?!!!!!!!!!!!! have a great day at all you are doing!

    1. I wish it had just a simple dial on it instead of all the fancy push buttons. Old Farts need things simple.

  6. Been doing some research on why I can't make any comments on peoples blogs. Seeing if this works.

  7. I figured out why I could not post comments on blogs. It has to do with Fire Fox and 3rd party cookies. I had mine disabled. Enabled them & I can make comments. I do have Fire Fox set to dump all cookies when I close Fire Fox,Just don't like all them cookies hanging around on my computer.

    1. Sure glad you figered that out. Mabey that simple setting is why so many others have problems posting comments, or like you, allowing your blog to accept comments. Thanks!!

    2. About that diesel leak on the BOT. I also have one of those Fords with a Nav Star Diesel and they have a fuel drain in front of the engine with a tube that drains the fuel from the fuel filter. There is a drain valve there with a O-Ring that seals it and as the rig gets older the O-Ring loses its ability to seal itself under pressure. It's an easy fix, take the valve apart and turn the O-Ring over and put it back together, problrm solved.

    3. Thanks for the tip Riverhauler. This leak or at least the puddle was at engine rear it looked like at least since the pool was at the door hinge. I trust him to find it and repair it.
